Last time I was in Paris, I paid a visit to Royal Tapisserie, and, when I rang the bell, I knew I was in for a treat. Picture an old, imposing, heavy door. The door opened to a rather dark, large room filled with bolts and bolts of tapestry and purses organized in some authentic, wood cabinetry. The room by itself could be a museum. It felt like I had stepped back in times.
Royal Tapisserie has been manufacturing purses since 1920 and has developed an unequalled know-how in their own specialty. They have followed the modern trends in their designs, but they have not changed their manufacturing process over the years. Their tapestry is still woven like it was woven by the Gobelins in the 16th century. And that is the key to their success.
