This particular mix may be used for the traditional American gingerbread. However, it truly is used for "Pain d'Epices", which is a soft, very moist bread made with honey. No butter or oil is used in it. Instead, you save the butter for the end, when you spread it on your slice of Pain d'Epices and you savor it, and the first bite is divine!
It is absolutely delicious! But you cannot bake the "Pain d'Epices" without this spice mix. Each spice is measured to perfection to guarantee the success of the old, traditional French "Pain d'Epices".
