So good! Not really part of a lean diet, but so good once in a while!
The hardest is not to fix a croque-monsieur. Rather, it is to find the right ingredients starting with a good bread, freshly baked white French or Italian bread, a couple of slices of good ham – not your typical lunch meat loaded with salt and water – and good Gruyere or Emmenthal cheese – not your pre-sliced, packaged cheese.
That is the challenge, and that is the key to a GOOD croque-monsieur.
